I'm Jack Duggan and this is my blog!

Here I’ll talk about my experiences as an entrepreneur in university as well as some of my past business projects including:

Web Development Company

In April of 2016 I founded my own web design and development company! This was the culmination of having spent the previous year teaching myself all I could about running a business and making websites using WordPress.

The experience as a whole taught me a lot of what I know today; particularly how to play my young age to my benefit.

Soon however, flaws in the business began to emerge and I unfortunately had to close the business 7 months later.

UniBuzz was the result of an arduous 10 month journey as part of the Young Enterprise programme within my University.

This company was formed with 2 other students with the aim of resolving the issue of students not knowing what was going on in their local community in regards to student-relevant activities. At least that was the gist of it.

We raised funds through selling products at a local Christmas Fayre which gave us the money to make an initial draft of our website, which then helped us to win the regional finals, giving us even more money!

This meant we had a free ticket to Liverpool for the national finals where I was nominated for the student of the year award. Not a bad start for my first year at University.

Management Undergraduate of the Year

A fancy name for a fancy competition, not forgetting the disgustingly long application process. Seriously, how many stages can you fit into an application process. But they covered all of my travel costs so I can't complain.

In all seriousness, I'd highly recommend it. Despite being very corporate, I actually had a great time and met some awesome people! I can now say that I am within the top 20 management undergraduates in the UK which totally doesn't make me sound like a dickhead.
